IV therapy is a nutritional service which involves vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients being administered directly into the bloodstream through an IV drip. Usually, it’s the digestive tract which is responsible for absorbing the nutrients that come from our food. These nutrients are then delivered to our cells for use. However, only a fraction of the vitamins and minerals will get absorbed, even less if the gastrointestinal system is compromised. IV nutrition therapy is administered in a way which allows for 100% of all the vitamins and minerals to be absorbed. This allows for higher doses without upsetting the GI tract.
We seek to maximize your comfort and healing in the IV room. Ideally, you will first visit with one of our practitioners and then together decide on a regimen most suited to your specific illness or complaints. You will then be introduced to our IV team who can answer questions and give you further instruction to prepare for your specific treatment.
List of illnesses that have responded well to IV therapies: Please put these in 3-4 columns rather than one long list.
Our IV Nurse: Shereen Zaugg has been a part of the Wholesome Health team for the past year. She has been a registered nurse for 15 years and has experience caring for patients in multiple different settings. She worked from 2003-2005 at Primary Children’s Hospital, and from 2005-2018 in home health and hospice. Her compassionate, competent nature makes her a perfect fit for us, and we are grateful for her desire to continuously expand her knowledge and pass that knowledge on to her her patients. In addition to her original education and experience she has additional training in ozone therapies, IV nutrition, and IV cancer treatments.
List of IV options:
Ultimate Nutrients (AKA Chronic illness bag): A powerful blend of vitamins, minerals, and amino acids that bypass the gut and get absorbed directly into the bloodstream. These nutrients provide the fuel needed for the proper function of the cellular machinery and help restore the balance thrown off by chronic stress, insomnia, digestive problems, inflammation, and other long standing illnesses.
Major Autohemotherapy (AKA ozone therapy):
High Dose Vitamin C: Vitamin C is one of the best nutrients to boost the immune system, support the adrenals, decrease histamine, and decrease inflammation. Furthermore, it is utilized extensively in the cancer arena to slow or halt the growth of cancer cells.
Preoperative and postsurgical support: A blend of nutrients and amino acids specifically geared toward laying down new tissue and maximizing quick recovery from surgery or injury
Phosphatidylcholine: Also known as PTC, this is a component of the cellular membrane in every single cell. A healthy balance of phosphatidylcholine in the membrane helps allow nutrients in while also improve the cell’s ability to get rid of metabolic toxins and waste. Furthermore, PTC is supportive of the liver and the brain and is often used in neurological diseases such as Parkinson’s and Multiple Sclerosis as well as cases of liver damage from alcoholism, hepatitis, or chronic tylenol use.
Eye Health: A blend of nutrients that are helpful in decreasing the oxidative damage that contributes to macular degeneration, glaucoma, and generalized worsening vision.
Salicinium (also see cancer therapies): When cells stop utilizing oxygen and start using sugar to make energy there is a host of illnesses that can ensue. Not only is energy production way less efficient (leading to chronic fatigue, neurological illness, and other problems), but the cells are also more prone to turn cancerous and evade destruction by the immune system. This evasion of the immune system occurs as the anaerobic cells secrete a substance called NAGALASE which acts to protect the cells and help it hide from the immune system. You can think of nagalase as cloak of invisibility around the bad guys. Salicinium is a therapy that specifically targets anaerobic cells (it doesn’t actually hit the healthy cells) and turns off the nagalase production, causing an uncloaking that allows the immune system to zero in and destroy these cells more effectively. Furthermore, salicinium also boosts the immune system by increasing the number of Killer T cells at work. It is not uncommon for patients receiving salicinium to report an increase in mood and energy while seeing a decrease in cancer. This is because the body is able to get rid of the sick cells that are draining energy and nutrient and replace them with healthy, vibrant cells capable of participating in healing and restoration.
Mistletoe (also see cancer therapies): Mistletoe is a plant that grows on several different types of trees and is supportive of the immune system. It is one of the most widely studied alternative and complementary therapies in people with cancer and is used extensively in Europe. It can be given via injection under the skin, into the tumor, or intravenously.
High Dose Vitamin C:
Methylcobalamin (methylated vitamin B12):
Procaine: One of our favorite treatment for resetting an overactive nervous system. Used frequently as an anesthetic in dentistry, its assistance in chronic illnesses originated in Germany. This treatment is based on the theory that longstanding disturbances of the nervous system can lead to electrochemical changes in the tissues. These changes can lead to nerves being chronically activated, leading to anxiety (being stuck in the “fight or flight” mode), muscle spasticity, and hyperactivation of pain signals. These imbalances over time can lead to depression and chronic fatigue. Procaine allows for the downregulation of the nervous system, and this helps the body to rest and heal appropriately.
Glutathione: a powerful antioxidant that is a major component in the liver’s detoxification process. Intravenous dosing is more effective than oral supplements because the oral supplements generally are broken down too quickly by the digestive system to be of maximal benefit.
Taurine: the second most abundant amino acid in the nervous system. It supports proper metabolism and improves circulation. Helps protect eyes against macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. Has been shown to reverse hearing loss and improve tinnitus (ringing in the ears). Protects the nervous system against degenerative conditions such as ALS, Parkinson’s, and Huntington’s disease. Improves mental clarity, learning, mental fatigue, and memory retention.
DMSO (dimethyl sulfoxide): anti-inflammatory used to treat chronic joint and muscle conditions. Used most commonly as a treatment for interstitial cystitis (chronic bladder inflammation and infection). When used topically can help drive medicinal components of herbs or other medications through the skin into the circulation.
MSM: a naturally-occurring, organic sulfur-containing molecule that acts as a potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. It is used commonly in muscle and joint disorders, especially those associated with autoimmune diseases such as Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus, or Hashimoto’s hypothyroidism. It can also help with nerve pain, fibromyalgia, and chronic fatigue.
Proline: an amino acid that is used in the synthesis of proteins. It is a compound responsible for tissue repair, collagen formation, and proper blood pressure. Also helpful for prevention of hardening of the arteries.
Other injections (not intravenous)
Simming Shot: This quick, easy shot provides a powerful combination of nutrients necessary for metabolism and for mobilizing fat stores. Many of these nutrients are also vital for mood regulation and protection against depression and anxiety.
Calm Shot: A natural treatment to soothe and relieve nerves and muscles. Helpful for any condition worsened by stress, insomnia, or anxiety. A quick intramuscular injection that bypasses the gut and is absorbed directly into the bloodstream, giving you maximum benefit.
Vitamin B12/B complex: B vitamins are necessary for nearly every function in the body, especially metabolism and nervous system function. Then tend to be absorbed rather poorly as we age or if we have problems with the digestive system. They are also depleted rather quickly in cases of chronic stress. A quick injection can boost energy production, support the nerves, and help with cellular regeneration.
